BMW has added a new model to its X1 line-up - the X1 sDrive18i M Sport. It is priced at Rs 48.90 lakh (ex-showroom) in the domestic market. In the X1 range, the new car sits above the X1 sDrive18i XLine model, which is available at Rs 45.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The new sDrive18i M Sport is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that also propels the X1 sDrive18i xLine. However, it gets a host of new features that are not found on the XLine variant, including a Harmon Kardon surround sound system. Prospective buyers who wish to book this vehicle can do so through its official website or at authorised dealerships as the bookings for the model are underway. Deliveries of the car will begin in June this year. There are different paint options to choose from - Alpine White (non-metallic), Space Silver, Black Sapphire, M Portimao Blue, and Storm Bay Grey. In the home market, it faces competition from the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Volvo XC40, and the Audi Q3.

BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport: Powertrain & Performance
Power comes from a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 134bhp at 4,400-6,500rpm and 230Nm at 1,500-4,000rpm. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox that powers its front wheels and also gets paddle shifters. According to the company, the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport can sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in 9.2 seconds. An ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of the M Sport is 16.13km/l.

Up front, there is a large, square-shaped kidney grille, which is flanked by adaptive LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs (daytime running lights). The sides appear robust thanks to an elongated roofline with roof rails and its square wheel arch contours. At the rear end, the car receives 3D LED tail lamps and a sleek tailgate window.
Other notable design elements include M-specific front and rear bumpers, glossy black inserts around the BMW kidney grille, blacked-out window surrounds, and new door handles. The new M Sport sits on M-specific 18-inch, double-spoked alloy wheels.
BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport: Interior Details
On the inside, the BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport comes with active seats with massage functions for the front occupants. Further, the rear seats can be mechanically adjusted (forward or backward) by up to 130mm. Also up for offer is an M-specific anthracite headliner and an M-specific steering wheel with paddle shifters.
On the feature front, the car has a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon surround sound system, automatic dual-zone AC, My BMW app, and digital key plus.

BMW X1 sDrive18i M Sport: Safety Equipment
In terms of safety, the new X1 sDrive18i M Sport model offers extensive driver assistance systems, including dynamic cruise control with braking functionality, lane departure warning with steering intervention, automatic emergency braking, and so on. Its standard safety equipment comprises an anti-lock braking system with brake assist, an electric parking brake with auto hold, dynamic stability control, crash sensors, tyre pressure indicator, 6 airbags, and ISOFIX child seat mounts, among other things.
That's not all. The driver of the new X1 sDrive18i M Sport receives active park distance control with sensors at both ends and a rear-view camera, which provides effective assistance while parking.
