The BMW X4 concept hit the scene yesterday as photos of this crossover, which we are likely to see at the Shanghai Motorshow, leaked on the internet. It’s becoming a trend to leak photos of upcoming cars and according to me; it spoils the surprise of any auto-show. But then again we always knew BMW was working on it, just that they described it as a ‘Sports Activity’ coupe.

As expected, the design of the X4 merges BMW's latest styling language with the coupe-like roofline of the larger X6 while maintaining a style-focused alternative to the midsized X3. The X4 shares the X3’s platform and features the same connected grille-to-headlights design which we saw in the new 3 series.

It sits on what look like 21-inch alloy wheels while at the rear we see tail lamps and a bumper inspired by the 4 Series Coupe. The X4 will not only share its platform with the BMW X3 but will also share the powertrain options.

So expect it to come with a 2.0-liter 240bhp turbocharged engine and a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine that pumps about 306bhp. Ofcourse the production version will not be different from this concept and we expect to see it hit the market soon.
