BMW has unveiled a special edition of the M3 sports sedan called the BMW 30 Jahre M3 to celebrate the cars 30th anniversary.
In the year 2016, BMW is celebrating its centenary year, while the year also marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic BMW M3 sports car. To celebrate the occasion, BMW has given us a limited run M3 called the “30 Jahre” – translated from German means ‘30 years’.
BMW will make only 500 units of the car for sale worldwide. The 30 Jahre is based on the M3 competition package which gets a 3-litre twin-turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that develops 450hp and 550Nm of torque. The anniversary model will get a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The M3 in this version will do 0-100kmph in 4 seconds and has a limted top speed of 250km/h. The driving modes which include Eco, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ have also been retuned like the completion package version of the standard M3.
Just like the competition package, the M3 will get the adaptive suspension with upgraded springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. The limited edition will also get the same 20 inch wheels BMW provides on the M4 GTS. The front tyres are sized at 265/30-R20 and 285/30-R20 for the rear. In addition to that, the interior will also get certain changes including a plaque on the dash of the unit number of the 500-limited production run of the car.
The car will cost an additional 10,000 euros (~Rs. 7.48 lakh) in Germany. The BMW M3 30 Jahre will only be available in limited colour options.
