BMW has managed to double its electric car sales in the year 2021. “Want to continue profitable growth in 2022 and more than double sales of fully-electric vehicles again,” said Pieter Nota, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer, Brands, Sales.
BMW Group has posted its all-time high sales figures. The German marque sold 25,21,525 units in the last year which is higher by 8.4 per cent Y-o-Y. The total sales number included the cumulative sales figures of BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce.
The sales of BMW also saw a hike of 9.1 per cent in 2021 as the firm managed to sell 22,13,795 units globally. BMW also claims to lead the premium segment. The company has almost doubled its EV sales numbers in 2021 to 1,03,855 units which is a hike of almost 133.2 per cent. BMW also plans on doubling its electric car sales for this year. BMW also confirms that Mini Electric is the Mini family’s highest-volume model, which will soon be launched in India, mostly by the end of Q1 2022.
Mini and Rolls-Royce are all set to be all-electric brands by 2030, So expect the brand to aggressively launch more electrified products in India in the coming years. There are fun times ahead as Mercedes-Benz India has also announced that the EQS will be assembled in India. So expect a strong rivalry between the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the upcoming all-electric BMW 7-series which will break cover next year.
