At the 2014 edition of the Delhi Auto Expo, BMW India had some of the best looking cars on display including the 5 series GT, the M6 Gran Coupe and the revolutionary i8 sports car. It was no surprise then that people had to wait in long lines just to get a glimpse of these cars. It seems that BMW is very focused on the Indian market, and they are doing everything in their power to reclaim the throne of best selling premium car brand in India.
Just last month, BMW India opened a state-of-the-art training centre in Gurgaon, and simultaneously launched the M6 Gran Coupe at this new facility. BMW spent around Rs 16 crores to develop this training centre, which will aim to provide intensive training in sales, service, parts and business systems to BMW Group India associates and to its retail network to ensure customers receive the best-in-class pre and post sales ownership experience. The training centre has eight training units, three conference rooms, a brand and customer institute, and a maximum annual capacity of 18,000 training man days. This is a big step towards solidifying the BMW brand in the country and it seems that BMW India is not only trying to gain new customers, but more importantly the company is trying to keep its existing clientele happy and bringing pure driving joy to full circle by ensuring after sales and customer relations are also an enjoyable experience.
The German luxury car maker is also hoping to add more dealers to the Indian market and they hope to spread to tier two cities, and just recently a new showroom was opened in Udaipur in Rajasthan. At the launch of the Sanghi Classic showroom, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President of BMW Group India said, “Following a vision of sustainable growth, BMW India is committed to exceed customer expectations and create customer delight. The development of a BMW dealer network plays a key role in achieving our vision. With the launch of Sanghi Classic Udaipur, we will continue to set new standards in the premium car market in Rajasthan and provide high quality services to our customers and prospects.” BMW India is also represented by Sanghi Classic in Jaipur.
But most interestingly, it has just come to light that Force Motors might soon begin assembling BMW engines. Last week Force Motors announced that they will begin construction of an engine manufacturing facility in Chengelpet Tamil Nadu. After formal board meeting was held a stock exchange filing was made to the Bombay Stock Exchange and it has been revealed that this new facility, when completed will service another OEM, which we believe to be BMW. However, BMW refuses to comment on this speculation.
