A special '50 Jahre M Edition' of the BMW M5 Competition has just been launched in India to commemorate the iconic BMW M GmbH's 50th anniversary. The exclusive M5 Competition '50 Jahre M Edition' will be offered as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) and is priced at ₹1.79 crore (ex-showroom). The bookings for the same are now open on the official website of the company.
Regarding the powertrain, the 4.4-litre V8 engine in both the BMW M5 Competition '50 Jahre M Edition' and the standard M5 Competition produces 625bhp and 750Nm of peak torque, and both variants claim to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in under 3.3 seconds. The driver has access to both the selector lever and the shift paddles on the steering wheel while the engine is coupled to an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission. Depending on the mode chosen (Road, Sport, or Track), the steering, throttle, and suspension can be altered.
The special edition M5 is equipped with an active M differential, a re-tuned chassis, new shock absorbers, and other upgrades. However, the 'Aventurine Red' paint finish and the 50 Jahre M Emblem, which stands out from the standard BMW emblem, are unique to this special edition. It has red M compound brakes and 20-inch black alloy wheels with a black chrome finish on the quad tailpipes of the standard M Sport exhaust system to create a striking contrast.
New features that are exclusive to the '50 Jahre M Edition' also include adaptive M-specific suspension, an M performance exhaust system, M seatbelts, M footrests and pedals, and an M leather steering wheel. Moreover, it has an automatic tailgate, electric seat adjustment with memory function, and seat heating for the driver and front passenger. It even comes with a larger 12.3-inch control display, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument display behind the steering wheel, and the BMW Operating System 7.0, comprising 3D Navigation.
