BMW has launched the high-performance M4 CS (Competition Sport) in India. At Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom), the new M4 CS sedan is around Rs 36 lakh more expensive than the M4 Competition, which currently retails at Rs 1.53 crore (ex-showroom). The model gets a range of mechanical tweaks, along with improved aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and advanced tech for better speed and handling.
Powering the BMW M4 CS is the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-six engine as the M4 Competition. But, an increase in turbo boost pressure alongside an improved cooling system liberates an extra 20bhp, bringing the power output to 542bhp. The torque figure remains at 650Nm; however, the M4 C4 revs higher (by an additional 220rpm) than the M4 Competition at the top end of the rev range, holding it from 2,750rpm to 5,950rpm. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine delivers power through BMW’s M-specific xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which is available as standard.

BMW M4 CS: Weightsaving Measures
The powertrain, which has been revised, enables the M4 CS to accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds quicker than the M4 Competition. The electronically controlled top speed sits at 303km/h. BMW's Adaptive M suspension is standard here. The vehicle sits on alloy wheels that are lighter than the M4 Competition – 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Other weight-saving measures include carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components (such as the centre console with red CS lettering) and carbon fibre parts (racing seats and roof).
BMW M4 CS: Interior
On the inside, BMW's minimalist design philosophy is combined with race-inspired components. The seats are lightweight M Carbon bucket units with unique CS badging. There is a 3-spoke, flat-bottom Alcantara M steering wheel; a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the latest OS 8.5; and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other M-specific bits include M seat belts, an M Mode button on the centre console, and M Traction Control.
BMW M4 CS: Exterior
Compared to the M4 Competition, the M4 CS has a wider kidney grille, more angular lines, and yellow inlays in the headlights. The rear end is equally distinctive, with M-specific design cues and strong lines, bringing out its performance-oriented character.
