BMW India has commenced bookings for the second batch of the M340i xDrive. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on it, you better hurry because the second batch is limited to just 50 units.
The BMW M340i xDrive was launched in India early this year, and the first batch of the sport sedan was sold out within two weeks. BMW dealerships in India have started accepting bookings for the second batch, which will be limited to just 50 units. The delivery of the second batch is expected by the end of August 2021.
The M340i xDrive carries a price tag of Rs 62.90 lakh (ex-showroom), which is could see a marginal hike for the next batch. The M340i is not only the first ‘M’ vehicle but also the quickest accelerating (0 – 100kmph in 4.4 seconds) car from the German marque to be locally assembled in India at BMW’s Chennai facility.
The 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine, with a two-stage turbocharger, pumps out 382bhp and 500Nm of torque. The gearbox on offer is an 8-speed automatic, which sends the power to the wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The M340i gets uprated mechanicals to manage all the power. It comes equipped with an M sport (limited-slip) differential. The suspensions and braking components are also from the full-blown M division. The changes in the mechanicals have also resulted in a lower ride height. The M340i rides 10mm lower than the standard 3 Series on sale. The wheel sizes are 225/45-R18 at the front and 255/40-R18 at the rear.
Although the pricing of the S5 Sportback is substantially high, the S5 Sportback makes similar power figures as the BMW M340i. Click here to read how the two German sports cars fare against each other.
