BMW's M division has offered a sneak peek at the electric M3, based on the cutting-edge Neue Klasse platform. In its prototype form, the M3 EV ditches the grille design of its internal combustion counterpart in favour of a wider kidney grille that integrates seamlessly with the headlights (as previewed by the concept shown). The front bumper is sleek and has a minimalist design, without any sharp edges or complex lines. The three-box silhouette of the concept’s profile is maintained, while the overall design is elevated by a more streamlined roofline, shorter overhangs, large alloys with Michelin high-performance tyres, flared fenders, a longer, and more erect boot lid, and flush door handles.

BMW has yet to reveal the interior of the M3 EV, but it's expected to closely follow the design language of its donor concept, the Vision Neue Klasse. The cabin is expected to be minimalist, with controls, like the iDrive, seamlessly integrated into a central touchscreen to reduce clutter. Read on for more details.
BMW M3 Electric: What to Expect?
The electric M3 is expected to adopt a quad-motor drivetrain configuration, with each wheel independently powered by a dedicated electric motor. This setup is projected to deliver a combined output of over 1,282bhp. The innovative Neue Klasse platform will utilise advanced 4695 and 46120 format cylindrical cells, offering a 20% increase in energy density and a 30% reduction in charging times compared to existing EVs in the range. While the base M3 EV is estimated to produce around 661bhp, higher-performance variants with increased power output are likely to follow.
The electric M3 represents the future of BMW's M division, promising exceptional performance, range, and fast-charging capabilities, making it a strong contender in the high-performance EV market.
