BMW has been adding new models to the M range in India left, right and centre and now we finally have the all-new M4 Competition sliding on our shores. It’s got a twin-turbo straight-six, all the M electronics you’ll ever need and a grille that’s going to raise a few eyebrows for sure. Prices start at Rs 1.43 crore and there are quite a few options to drive that price up. More on that later.
BMW M4 Competition: Styling
While styling can be subjective, the new M4 Competition certainly does split opinions. Make your own mind up about the massive kidney grille up front, but the rest of the M4 Competition looks rather nice. There's aggressive cuts and creases all over, with pronounced haunches and a sleek coupe roofline. This is one Bimmer you won't miss!
BMW M4 Competition: Powertrain and mechanicals
The M4 Competition comes with a three-litre twin-turbo straight-six, mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox. Power is 503bhp while torque is 650Nm, sent to all four wheels via the M xDrive system. Performance is suitably brisk, with a 0 to 100km/h time of just 3.5 seconds.
BMW M4 Competition: Features
As standard, the M4 Competition gets Adaptive M suspension, an Active M Differential and M Drive with M-specific driving modes and configurations. It also comes with cruise control with automatic emergency braking, BMW Laser Lights and is fitted with M forged rims measuring 275/35 R19 (front) and 285/30 R20 (rear).
Inside, there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment display, both featuring M-specific displays, wireless charging, a Harmon Kardon sound system, head-up display, and more – the M4 Competition is well kitted out.
Optional extras include M Compound brakes, BMW Drive Recorder, M Carbon Exterior Package, Active Seat Ventilation, M Racetrack Package and more.
BMW M4 Competition: Price and rivals
The M4 Competition Coupe starts at Rs 1.43 crore and competes with other fast Germans like the Audi RS5 which is priced at Rs 1.05 crore and undercuts the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S which is priced at Rs 1.7 crore. The M4 Competition offers similar levels of performance to the AMG, but doesn’t have the four-door practicality of the E 63 S.
