BMW is expanding its electric lineup with the addition of a new iX1 SUV, which is an electric version of the third-generation X1. Currently, the automaker's Indian electric range consists of the i4, the iX, and the i7. The are two variants for the upcoming iX1 SUV: the xDrive30 and the iX1eDrive20, in the global market. In India, BMW is expected to offer the xDrive30 version. With performance figures of 201bhp and 250Nm, the front-wheel drive eDrive20 can go above 475 kilometre on a single charge. The xDrive30, on the other hand, is propelled by two electric motors that together produce a combined output of 313bhp and 494Nm. Also, it claims a maximum driving range of 440 kilometre per charge. There is a 64.7kWh battery pack in both models. Let's take a quick look at the design and specifications of the iX1 before its launch tomorrow.

BMW iX1: Design and Features
Cosmetically, the BMW iX1 has many similarities with the ICE-powered X1 that is presently available for purchase in India. However, it gets certain EV-specific design elements, such as a closed-off grille and distinct exterior trim pieces that are coloured in blue. A bigger kidney grille, twin LED DRL headlights in an inverted L form, alloy wheels, as well as slim LED taillights are further noteworthy aesthetic elements.
The interior of the electric SUV is black and brown. A panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch driver display, an infotainment system with a 10.7-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay, and more goodies are also available.
The iX1 is also equipped with a number of cutting-edge safety features, including electronic stability control (ESC), blind-spot monitoring, seven airbags (standard), rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, front collision warning, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking, and more.
BMW iX1: Powertrain
As previously mentioned, the xDrive30 version of the BMW iX1 electric SUV will presumably be offered in our market. This model's dual electric motor setup produces 494Nm of peak torque and 313bhp of maximum power. These electric motors provide power to the iX1's four wheels. The car has a top speed of 180km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds.

BMW iX1: Price and Competitors
The upcoming BMW iX1 is expected to be positioned below the iX, which is currently the only electric SUV offered by BMW in India. It is estimated to be priced between Rs 60 lakh and Rs 70 lakh, ex-showroom. If this turns out to be true, the new model will be the most cost-effective electric SUV in the market. In terms of market rivalry, the new BMW iX1 will go up against the Volvo C40 Recharge, the Kia EV6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and more.
