BMW reintroduces petrol model for the 3 Series range with prices starting at Rs. 36.90 lakh.
BMW launched a face-lifted version of the 3 Series in late January, 2016 with the choice of only a diesel engine in 320d spec. The company has now silently introduced the petrol version of the car now as well, badged as the 320i. Powered by the company’s four cylinder, twin turbo charged petrol engine developing 184hp of max power and 270Nm of peak torque. This gives the car a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds, courtesy also of the eight-speed automatic gearbox. In comparison, the 320d develops 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque and has a 0 – 100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds.
BMW has launched the 320i petrol model with a choice of two variants on offer, namely, 320i Prestige and 320i Luxury Line. Standard features on the Prestige trim include 16 inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable front seats, an iDrive system hooked to a 6.5 inch screen, dual zone climate control, heated ORVMs with memory, LED head lamps and four driving modes. The Luxury Line in addition packs in larger 17 inch alloys, a sunroof, a different sound system with an 8.8 inch display and an additional Sport+ drive mode.
BMW has priced the new petrol variants of the 320i at Rs. 36.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Prestige model while the Luxury Line version is priced at Rs. 42.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison, the petrol version of the new Jaguar XE in 25t spec is priced between Rs. 39.9 lakh to Rs. 47.9 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class C200 petrol retails at Rs. 38.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
BMW India will soon also be launching a petrol version of the larger 5 Series with the same 184 hp 2.0 litre petrol engine in 520i spec.
