This is the first time in India, a luxury car maker has associated with an online transportation network firm
With rickshaw-wallahs and taxi drivers being overtly selective about where they want to go, online transportation network is booming rapidly. This has created a huge opportunity for car makers to establish a stronghold in the fleet market. We recently saw Toyota partner with Uber to offer vehicle buying solutions for drivers. But this one is a bit more unique. For the first time in India, a luxury car maker has joined hands with an online transportation network company.
As part of the association, close to 1,000 BMW cars, the 3 Series to be more specific, will be introduced to the Ola fleet. These cars can be booked using the mobile phone application under the Lux category. This service has been commenced in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore and will soon be expanded to other major cities in India. Ola Lux is now available for booking for a minimum fare of Rs 250 and Rs 20-22/kilometre.
BMW will also offer Ola cab operators attractive finance options and after-sales support. BMW Financial Services will offer 100 percent finance options to cab operators for up to 4 years. After-sales service will include BMW Service Inclusive Plus and BMW Repair Inclusive with a validity of 4years/1,00,000 kilometres. The German car maker has also promised buy-back options thereby securing investment. More importantly, cab operators will also go through Driver Training programs which will include tips on making driving safe. These training programs will be organised by BMW.
This first of its kind association of an online mobility service with a luxury car maker in indeed very interesting. So, if you want to take your girlfriend/wife for a romantic dinner on your anniversary and give her an experience of luxury, you know where to book your transport.
