BMW 7 Series 40 Jahre is a birthday special version that'll be limited to just 200 units.
The first BMW 7 Series rolled out in 1977. And if you’re really good at math then you must have already realised that this year marks the luxury saloon’s 40th anniversary. So, to commemorate the occasion, BMW has come out with a special edition variant of its flagship saloon that's based on the current or sixth-gen 7 Series. Dubbed the “40 Jahre”, only 200 units of this special edition variant will be produced.
Although the 40 Jahre 7 Series will be made in very limited numbers, BMW will offer it across the entire range, meaning customers will be able to choose from Inline-6, V8 and V12 petrol and diesel engines in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive format. However, what distinguishes the 40 Jahre 7 Series from the rest of the range is the fact that it comes with specific exterior and interior details.
On the outside, the 40 Jahre 7 Series will have two unique colour options on offer – Frozen Silver or Petrol Mica (blue). Along with that, the special edition will get the M Aerodynamics Package as standard. The package includes wide bumpers, side skirts, 20-inch alloy wheels and excessive chrome on the bodywork. And, of course, you do also get special 40 Jahre badging on the B-pillars and door-sills.
Inside, the birthday special trim gets a choice of two colour options for upholstery – Smoke White and Cohiba or Smoke White and Black. There will be a lot of leather inside and the car will come equipped with all the bells and whistles that are part of the standard equipment in regular models. Also, just like other trims in the range, there will be countless optional extras to choose from.
BMW will start customer deliveries of the 40 Jahre 7 Series from October 2017. For the time being there’s no confirmation if any of the 200 units will make it to India.
