The BMW 520d M Sport comes with a number of 'sporty' exterior and interior updates over the regular model.
BMW has introduced the M Sport version of the 520d at a price of Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi & Maharashtra). Updates over regular model include ‘hallmark’ M style package on the exterior along with subtle revisions to the interior of the car.
Onlookers will be able to differentiate the 520d M Sport from regular model based on a number of exterior details such as new 18-inch “M” double spoke design alloy wheels, side skirting, chrome finished exhaust pipes and a ‘dark shadow’ diffuser. You do also get the M badge on front wings as well as on the door sills. Inside, the main attraction of the 520d M Sport will be its “M” steering wheel. Other than that, all of the features and equipment will be lifted from the regular model.
Powertrain remains unchanged, which means it will come powered by the same 1,995cc, in-line four, turbo diesel engine developing 187bhp and 400Nm of torque. Power is sent to rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. For customers looking for more even performance there’s always the 530d M Sport. Apart from the diesel offerings, there’s also the 520i (petrol), albeit it does not come with the M Sport package.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Frank Schloeder, President (Act.), BMW Group India said, “M stands for motorsport and is one of the most coveted badges that has shaped the history of performance automobiles. The next chapter of the BMW 5 Series in India will begin with the BMW 520d M Sport which embodies the athletic form of luxurious elegance. The BMW 520d M Sport with typical BMW M style and sporty genes presents the future-proof dynamics of the BMW 5 Series at its energetic best.”
