BMW India has launched four offerings in the Indian market today: the CE 04, the new Mini Cooper S, the Mini Countryman EV, and the all-new 5 Series. Speaking of the 5 Series LWB, the sedan is available in a single 530Li variant at Rs 72.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). Already on sale in China, India is the first right-hand drive market to receive this model. Moreover, the new 5 Series is the BMW's second LWB model to arrive in the country, after the 3 Series Grand Limousine. With a more spacious back end than standard models, the car seeks to capitalise on the increasing demand for executive luxury sedans. It will go up against the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB. Customer bookings for the 5 Series LWB are now open and can be made at authorised dealerships across India or via the BMW India Online Shop.

The sharper look of the new BMW 5 Series is inspired by the all-electric BMW i5, which made its debut last year. The vehicle has a prominent kidney grille, a more angular front bumper with large intakes, slim wraparound LED taillights, and new adaptive LED headlights. Two wheel-size options are available: 18-inch ten-spoke rims and 19-inch fourteen-spoke rims. Despite being slightly smaller than the car overall, the wheels are wrapped in larger tyres to compensate.

On the mechanical front, a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid assist powers the 5 Series. The engine is coupled to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission, producing 255bhp of peak power and 400Nm of maximum torque.

With this generation of the 5 Series, BMW has improved the interior. It has two huge screens for the infotainment system and the digital driver's display, and it has a minimalistic design with AC vents that are smoothly integrated into the dashboard. BMW has employed eco-friendly materials for the seat fabric, steering wheel, and door pads. The longer wheelbase also means more room for passengers in the back seat.
