BMW revealed the facelift of the 5-series. The 7-series was updated and launched here recently and now we see the facelift of its younger sibling.
The BMW 5-series gets a lot of styling updates. Restructured air intakes on the front, new chrome surrounds for the fog lamps, redesigned tail lamps and a set of new alloy wheels. Inside the facelift 5-series is the iDrive control screen which also comes with a chrome strip around the border.
Features like xenon headlamps now come as standard on all models but BMW also offers adaptive LEDs as an option. The fog lamps too turn the LED way and the wing mirrors now come with integrated indicators. BMW has also provided with an optional comfort access system which lets you open and close the boot lid when you place your foot under the rear bumper.
The biggest news from BMW though is that they will add a new entry-level diesel variant – the 518d to its international line-up. The 518d will get the 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder 143 bhp churning turbodiesel engine. BMW has added a new coasting mode, which when switched on disengages the powertrain, thus helping improve on fuel efficiency.
BMW hasn't said anything about the new 5-series coming to India yet but we are sure it’ll make its way here soon.
