Just a day before the launch of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, BMW India has launched the most affordable sedan (Gran Coupe) in its 2 Series Gran Coupe line up - the BMW 220i Sport
BMW India has just announced the launch of an entry-level variant in the 2 Series line up - the 220i Sport. The 220i Sport is the entry-level variant in BMW’s as well as 2 Series’ line up and comes priced at Rs 37.90 lakh ex-showroom.
The new entry-level sedan by BMW has been announced just in time when Mercedes-Benz India has scheduled the launch of its A-Class Limousine for tomorrow (March 25, 2021). The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe 220i Sport could be the more affordable among the two, as we expect the prices for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine could begin at Rs 40 lakh.
The BMW 220i Sport gets a feature list that includes an 8.8-inch multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5.1-inch all-digital instrument cluster, park assist, cruise control with brake assist and two-zone climate control. The cabin also features a panoramic sunroof, ambient light package and sportier seats.
Mechanically the car is identical to the BMW 2 Series 220i M Sport. The engine on offer is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol motor with a two-stage turbocharger. The power is rated at 187bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. The gearbox on offer is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic unit and the sedan is available in a front-wheel-drive layout. The new sedan is locally assembled in BMW’s facility in Chennai.
