BMW's entry-level Gran Coupé is all set to launch in India on 15th October.
Just a few days ago, BMW India officially announced that it's gearing up to launch an all-new product – the 2 Series Gran Coupé. For those not aware, the 2 Series Gran Coupé was unveiled in October last year as BMW's first-ever compact premium four-door Coupé. In India, it will be BMW's fourth launch of the year and will become the new entry-point to its product portfolio. With the launch slated for 15th October, BMW India has today opened the pre-launch bookings for the 2 Series Gran Coupé at ₹50,000. As an incentive, all online bookings made before 12 noon on 15th October will receive some early-bird benefits, in the form of gift cards worth ₹50,000.
Details about the 2 Series Gran Coupé are scarce at the moment. But a quick visit to BMW India's website has confirmed that the car will go on sale in two trims – Sport Line and the higher-spec M Sport. Initially, the car will go on sale with a 2.0-litre diesel engine (220d), which will develop 188bhp and 400Nm. This is the same engine/setup as the one in the 3 Series diesel (320d). Some reports suggest that a 2.0-litre petrol motor (220i) will join the powertrain line-up next year. It could be a detuned version of the 2.0-litre unit that powers the 330i, with an expected power output of 189bhp.
With an expected starting price of ₹35 lakh, it'll be interesting to see how the 2 Series Gran Coupé competes with the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine. You can check out more details of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé here.
