BMW Group has now unveiled the the all new BMW 1-Series sedan to target the Chinese market.

The 1-Series sedan comes from the same family as the 1-Series hatchback and the new generation X1. The 1-Series sedan has been exclusively designed and tailored to suit the needs of the Chinese market, to be solely produced and sold in China. The car was developed and tested at BMW’s headquarters with enginers from China also getting involved with their inputs.

The BMW 1-Series sedan originated from the BMW Concept Compact Sedan which the company showcased last year at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The double kidney grille at the front, LED double round headlamps and a sporty stance.

BMW hasn’t yet confirmed what engines will power the 1-Series sedan, But its likely to be a a choice between 3-4 cylinder engines, with displacements ranging from 1.5-litre to 2.0-litre powertrains. We expect a 6-speed manual gearbox and an 8-speed automatic options to be available with the new sedan. The engines swill be produced at BMW’s new engine plant in Shenyang, China.

The 1-Seires sedan has currently only been slated for the Chinese market, but whether the car will be sold in India is still not confirmed.
