Bharat Mobility Expo: The eVX Concept stands out as a formidable competitor in the electric SUV market, set to take on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric, the Mahindra XUV400, and the MG ZS EV.
Bharat Mobility Expo: Taking the forefront at the first edition of the Expo, Maruti Suzuki showcased two noteworthy models that highlight the brand's dedication to innovation and environmental sustainability. The centre of attention is the eVX concept, offering a preview of the brand's first electric SUV for the Indian market, which is scheduled to go on sale later this year. Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have collaborated to develop two SUVs that are sibling models: the eVX and Toyota's Urban SUV concept. The former is utilising Toyota's 27PL skateboard platform. The 4.3-metre-long SUVs have roomy interiors because of their born-electric vehicle construction. The eVX Concept stands out as a formidable competitor in the electric SUV market, set to take on the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric, the Mahindra XUV400, and the MG ZS EV.
The Wagon R Flex Fuel prototype, which has a 1.2-litre petrol engine modified to run on E20–E85 ethanol, is displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo alongside the eVX. This flex-fuel version of the Maruti Wagon R is expected to retail for approximately Rs 8.50 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Battery Specifications
As mentioned before, the eVX will be constructed on a specialised EV platform. On top of that, it will come equipped with a 60kWh battery pack that uses safe battery technology, resulting in improved performance. Maruti Suzuki claims a remarkable driving range of 550-kilometre, highlighting the model's suitability for daily commuting even though specific power figures are still under wraps.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Styling Details
The eVX Concept's exterior design is aggressive and trendy, featuring a sturdy posture with an upright nose and a unique clamshell bonnet shape that is evocative of the new-generation Brezza. The headlamps and daytime running lights are housed in elegant V-shaped cutouts, while the grille, emblazoned with the distinctive 'S' badge, rests lower on the bumper. The powerful character lines, flush-fitted door handles, and eye-catching blacked-out aero wheels with low-profile tyres define the SUV's image. A modern touch to the style is provided by the high-positioned LED tail lamp strip across the tailgate on the back.
Speaking of dimensions, the model will measure 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height. The production-spec eVX will be built in India and will be assembled at Maruti Suzuki's newly acquired Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant.
Maruti Suzuki eVX: Features and Anticipated Pricing
With road testing already underway in India, the eVX is set to revolutionise the electric SUV market. Price-wise, the model is anticipated to start at Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Moving on to the cabin, the car will likely have a layout akin to the Tokyo Motor Show concept, featuring a widescreen display above the dashboard. The interiors sport an elegant touch thanks to the combination of chrome plastics and beige hues.

Other amenities include horizontally positioned air conditioning vents, a panoramic sunroof, a two-spoke steering wheel, multiple airbags, touch-based controls for the AC vents, ambient lighting, adjustable power seats, a rotary drive mode selector, and a rearview mirror.
