Fastest ever Bentley saloon - the Flying Spur W12 S - breaks cover as well as the 200mph barrier!

This is the Bentley Flying Spur W12 S. And what’s so special about it, you ask? Well, it’s the first Bentley saloon that can breach the 200mph or 320kmph (it will do 325km/h, to be precise) mark, thanks to some serious tweaks and modifications that have been carried out on its W12 powertrain. Bentley will be showcasing this barnstormer at the 2016 Paris Motor Show next month.

In its standard guise, the W12 engine in the Flying Spur produces 616bhp and 800Nm. In the W12 S though, the power output of the twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 is bumped up to 626bhp while peak torque has also increased to 820Nm. Sending the drive to all four wheels is an eight-speed automatic transmission. Torque is split 40:60 between front and rear axle. Barring the 325km/h magic figure, performance has also improved slightly with the W12 S going from a naught to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds (a tenth faster than standard W12).

Keeping tabs on that kind of performance is a new responsive suspension tune with specific damper and stability control calibrations for a more involving and agile drive, says Bentley. And you can have optional carbon ceramic brakes with either red or black painted calipers.

There are a few noticeable changes to the exterior and interior in the Flying Spur W12 S. The new model comes shod with seven-spoke 21-inch gloss black wheels along with a similar gloss treatment on the grille, window borders, door handles, rear bumper, ORVMs and rear diffuser. Plus, it also has ‘S’ badging on the C-pillar as well as tinted head- and tail-lights.

Inside, it gets knurled gearshift paddles, contrast stitching with diamond-quilt pattern leather seats and ‘W12 S’ branding for the headrests and door sills. There are also 17 shades of leather to choose from in the new model.

Customer deliveries of the Bentley Flying Spur W12 S will begin by the end of 2016. Bentley hasn’t revealed its price as yet but you can expect it to cost almost a fortune, and then some...
