Not to be mistaken with Bentley's Speed models, the new Continental GT S and GTC S add a bit of visual and mechanical appeal to the grand tourer's V8 line-up.
A few days ago, Bentley revealed its Azure range of models, which prioritises comfort and ride quality. And now, Bentley has pulled the covers off another new iteration of its grand tourer – the 2023 Continental GT S and GT Convertible (GTC) S. In the words of Bentley, the S range focuses on 'driving performance and visual presence.' Now, while it may seem that the range features numerous updates, that's actually not the case – it has received just one major mechanical update, along with a handful of visual tweaks.
The Continental GT S and GTC S retain the standard model's 542bhp and 770Nm producing 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. But there's a new sports exhaust, which is part of the S range's standard kit. So, expect the crossplane V8 to produce a more enthralling sound. The folks at Crewe have also thrown in the brand's 48V active anti-roll control system – Bentley Dynamic Ride – into the mix.
Visually, the S range gets most of its exterior trim elements, which are generally chrome, finished in gloss black. These include the front grille, headlight and taillight surrounds, and the quad-exhaust tailpipes. Only the winged 'Bentley' badge and lettering have been finished in bright chrome. The range also comes with all-new 22-inch wheels, with a Y-shaped spoke design. They can be ordered with either gloss black or a new Pale Brodgar Satin finish. A 21-inch tri-spoke wheel design is available too, which is also unique to the S range. Irrespective of the wheel design, the brake callipers will be finished in red.
Inside, the S range features bespoke Dinamica (a kind of suede cloth) and leather combination upholstery with fluted seats and contrast stitching. The instrument cluster adopts the same performance-focused graphics as the Continental GT Speed.
