The Bentley Bentayga is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 that develops 429bhp and 900Nm
Bentley has been analysing the market, experimenting with their product portfolio, and wanting to bring in a diesel for a while now. They first ventured into SUVs with the official unveil and eventual launch of the Bentayga at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. The British car maker has now revealed it in a diesel avatar, making it their first ever product to be offered with a diesel motor.
As rumoured, the Bentley Bentayga diesel will sport a triple-charged 4.0-litre V8 that makes peak power of 429bhp and an insane 900Nm of torque. Developed in association with Audi, the Bentayga diesel is the first triple-charged Bentley. It makes use of a twin-turbo accompanied by an electric supercharger. Sounds familiar doesn’t it? This is the same engine that also provides fire power to the upcoming Audi SQ7. This engine takes the Bentley Bentayga from standstill to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds and allows it to record a top speed of 270km/h. While this engine is surely a performer, its beauty is in its versatility. The Bentayga diesel’s peak torque comes in at just 1,000rpm which will make it absolutely effortless to drive.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, said: “The Bentayga Diesel represents a moment of immense significance in Bentley’s history, by giving the world its fastest luxury diesel SUV. Immense power, grand touring capabilities and superb refinement – this is a true Bentley. Only Bentley could produce a car so powerful, yet so refined.”
As far as visual differences are concerned, they will be restricted to the badge on the front door, new exhaust tip design and blacked out grille. The Bentley Bentayga diesel will be launched in the international market early next year. Expect it to come to India later in 2017. Earlier this year in April, the Crewe-based car maker launched the gasoline Bentayga in India at Rs 3.85 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
