Volkswagen will launch over 30 new models, including 20 NEVs, in China by 2027, including production versions of the concept cars unveiled in Shanghai.
Volkswagen has unveiled three concepts—ID.Aura, ID. Era, and ID. Evo—in China, offering a peek into the brand’s upcoming smart electrified range. The concepts, developed in partnership with its Chinese joint venture companies, represent New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in China—a category that encompasses not only fully electric vehicles but also hybrids and range-extended options tailored to local market demands. They boast distinct, cutting-edge technology and innovative design. The trio of concepts consists of two SUVs and a sleek sedan, and is designed to meet the diverse preferences of Chinese consumers in a rapidly growing Chinese market. Here's a closer look at what they offer.
The ID. Era, developed by SAIC Volkswagen, is a spacious three-row electric SUV that blends electric mobility with range-extending capability. Equipped with a built-in fuel-powered generator, it can recharge its battery while on the move, delivering a combined driving range that exceeds 1,000 kilometres. Of that, approximately 300 Kilometres can be driven purely on electric power, offering flexibility for both city commutes and long-distance travel without the constant need to stop and recharge.
