Auto Shanghai 2025: This Buick Electra GS Concept Is Almost as Long as the BMW i7
The Buick Electra GS Concept spans 5,300mm in length with a 3,200mm wheelbase. It comes with a large 16.3-inch touchscreen.

Buick, the premium arm of General Motors, recently took the wraps off its new concept, the Electra GS, at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. The car, developed by the GM China Advanced Design Centre, reflects Buick’s broader global design ambitions, although there’s no confirmation of its production version coming to life anytime soon. The concept’s design draws inspiration from the ‘Mythical centaur’, and the length stands at 5,300mm, making it almost as long as the BMW i7 (5,391mm). The car’s 3,200mm wheelbase trails the i7 by only 15mm, reinforcing its presence in the full-size luxury EV segment. Below are some of the core specifications of the concept.

Buick Electra GS Concept: Exterior and Interior
The Buick Electra GS Concept features a low-slung, wide stance paired with a long body that gives it a more athletic and performance-oriented appearance. The front fascia is defined by a sharp nose and integrated lighting elements that sit within the sculpted bodywork. At the sides, crisp lines define the smooth surfaces, while the large 23-inch wheels add to the car’s road presence. The glass roof stretches back to a subtle rear spoiler.

The Electra GS Concept's interior uses brown and black leather and a simple dashboard layout. A 16.3-inch screen is dedicated to front passenger entertainment. Other highlights include an augmented-reality head-up display, a yoke steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster. For climate control, a dedicated row of physical buttons is located on the centre console.

Talking about the looks, Stuart Norris, Chief Design Officer at SAIC-GM and Vice President of GM China Design, said, ‘The Electra GS is more than a concept. It’s a design manifesto.’
He also added, ‘It’s a bold statement that Buick will continue its success in the electric era with sculptural dynamism, cutting-edge technology, and uncompromised sophistication.’
‘In today’s connected world, where design and technology transcend borders, our team is proud to be shaping a global vision from China’s perspective,’ said Norris.
Buick has not yet released any powertrain information for the Electra GS Concept. The possibility of a production model is still uncertain, and concrete details will only be provided if the vehicle moves into manufacturing.
