Auto Expo 2023: The new MG4 EV hatchback, the first model to be supported by the company's new modular platform, has made its debut in India at the Auto Expo 2023. It features advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) technology such as Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Active Emergency Braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection and other connected car technologies. The MG4 EV has received a five-star safety rating in crash tests performed by Euro NCAP. MG Motor India also unveiled the Plug-in Hybrid eHS at the show, demonstrating the company's commitment to greener transportation in the country. In terms of dimensions, the MG4 hatchback is 1,504mm in height, 1,836mm in width, and 4,287mm in length, with a 2,705mm wheelbase, ensuring a spacious cabin. Its boot can hold 350 to 1,165 litres of luggage. The drag coefficient ranges from cW 0.27 to 0.287, depending on the model version.

The MG4 EV gets unique headlights, angled upright indicators, and six vertical LED fibre optic stripes arranged in ascending order. The front fascia features an aggressive pointed nose and a black, enlarged front splitter, with vertical slats in the lower portion of the bumper. The car also features a two-tone roof and 17-inch alloy wheels in what's called the 'Tomahawk design.' The rear features intricate LED taillights, a dual diffuser system, and a red fog lamp in the centre. There are 172 LEDs in total, which are spread throughout the length of the vehicle's rear light strip.

The hatchback also features a 360-degree camera, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a floating 10.25-inch infotainment screen with iSMART connectivity system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and automatic air conditioning. Inside, the car gets a highly minimalistic design. The MG4 EV is available with 51 kWh and 64 kWh battery packs, producing 170 horsepower and 203 horsepower of maximum power, respectively. Both are RWD single-motor systems with a maximum torque of 250Nm. MG Motor India hasn't revealed whether the MG4 EV will be introduced in the Indian market, but if it does, it is expected to cost around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
