Auto Expo 2023: Maruti Suzuki India is betting big on the SUV trend in the Indian market, as it introduced the Maruti Suzuki Fronx at the Auto Expo 2023, besides the Jimny. The Fronx is a crossover SUV based on the Baleno premium hatchback, which is sold in India through the company's Nexa stores. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki also showcased other models such as the Jimny 5-door, the EVX, the Grand Vitara, and the Brezza. The brand-new Maruti Suzuki Fronx features a modern design aesthetic that the manufacturer is using to target young buyers in India. When launched, the SUV will rival some of the top compact SUVs in the Indian market.
Once launched, the Fronx compact SUV will be available with two petrol engine options – a 1.2-litre K-Series Dual Jet Dual VVT engine, which produces 113Nm of torque at 4,400rpm and 89bhp at 6,000rpm, and a 1.0-litre K-Series turbo petrol engine, which makes 147.6Nm of torque between 2,000 and 4,500rpm and 99bhp at 5,500rpm. The former will be offered with both a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT, while the latter will get both a six-speed automatic and a five-speed manual transmission.
