Auto Expo 2023: The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV has been launched in India at a price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The price is for first 500 units only. For the uninitiated, bookings for the car commenced last month at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Auto Expo 2023: Hyundai Motor India has finally launched the much-anticipated Ioniq 5 EV crossover in India. The brand-new EV boasts a price tag of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The price is for first 500 units only. The Ioniq 5 EV had already been showcased in the country and bookings for the same commenced at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh in December 2022. The new Ioniq 5 will be Hyundai's second fully electric vehicle in India, following the Kona EV, and is technically identical to the Kia EV 6 that is already on sale in the Indian market. The exterior colour options available for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 are Gravity Gold Matte, Optic White, and Midnight Black Pearl. Hyundai Motor is also expected to showcase the Nexo fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) SUV at the biennial auto show.
Hyundai was able to maximise interior space with the development of the Ioniq 5 using the E-GMP platform. Additionally, the car uses eco-friendly materials at a number of touchpoints. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is poised to redefine the electric mobility lifestyle unlike anything seen before by fusing this BEV's strong performance capability with an ultra-fast charging capability of 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes (using a 350kw DC charger) and cutting-edge solutions like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Inside and Outside and Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS).

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 also boasts more than 60 connected car features, including services like remote door lock/unlock, live location, and SOS services, along with a three-year complimentary Bluelink subscription. Six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, and level 2 ADAS features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control are all included in terms of safety.
The Ioniq 5 features Dark pebble grey interiors and eco-processed leather seat upholstery. The dashboard and door have soft-touch materials, while the armrest, seat cushions, and steering wheel have a pixel design. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen Infotainment system and a Bose sound system with eight speakers that can play six different types of ambient noises from nature. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster next to it displays all of the required information to the driver. The car has a remarkable 3000mm wheelbase, which provides a large cabin area for the passengers. The flat floor, thin cockpit design, sliding centre console, and sliding glove box give it a futuristic appearance.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 includes a 72.6kWh battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a power output of 214bhp and torque of 350Nm. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger, however, there are only a few of these chargers across India. The manufacturer claims that the Ioniq 5 EV has a range of 631 kilometres on a single charge. The Ioniq 5 also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows the car to deliver up to 3.6kW of power output. The V2L port is found beneath the second-row seats. Another V2L port can be found on the vehicle's exterior near the charging port. Customers can use a converter to power electric equipment such as laptops, phones, and other gadgets.
