Tata Motors is planning to unveil its all-electric compact SUV, the Tata Punch at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. The Tata Punch EV is set to go into production in June 2023. The SUV will then be launched in the market next year, around the festive period.
Tata Motors may launch the all-electric version of the Tata Punch during the Diwali season in 2023, given that this is the period of the year when automobile sales hit record levels. Moreover, the car can come in a variety of trim levels that will fit into various pricing ranges.

The Tata Punch EV is intended to be built on a new sigma architecture that is a substantially modified version of the ALFA platform. The same platform is used in the petrol-powered Punch as well as the Altroz hatchback. The firm is believed to make multiple tweaks to the sigma architecture, such as removing the transmission tunnel and modifying the petrol tank area to accommodate a huge battery pack. The platform will also be electrically powered, implying that the car will be lighter, more energy-efficient, and more spacious as compared to a standard ICE car converted to an EV.
The report by Autocar India goes on to state that the Tata Punch EV is anticipated to have a powertrain configuration similar to Tata Motors' existing electric vehicles, which use a permanent magnet synchronous motor driving the front wheels. The same 17.78-inch touchscreen, four speakers, two tweeters, remote vehicle control, five-speed automatic transmission with traction pro mode, cruise control, five-star GNCAP safety rating, dual airbags, and more are likely going to be some of the most prominent features in the car.

The Tata Punch EV is anticipated to be offered with multiple battery pack options, just like the Tigor EV, the Nexon EV, and the Tiago EV. The upcoming EV is estimated to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh more than the top-of-the-line Tata Punch AMT variant.
