Audi’s all-aluminum 4.0 litre, twin turbocharged, petrol V8 engine has been tweaked to deliver more power in the new A8 L 4.0T Sport, RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Performance
Audi has recently taken its wrench to the aluminum alloy, 4.0 litre, twin turbocharged petrol engine in the A8 L as well to the same engine that powers the RS6 Avant performance station wagon and RS7 performance saloon.
First up is the Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport which has a maximum engine power output of 450bhp @ 5,100 rpm which is 15bhp more than earlier. Peak torque output is rated at 601Nm @ 1,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with tiptronic mode. The top speed of the car is pegged at 208 km/h.
Audi has also given the car new front and rear bumpers along with different rocker panels to give them a more performance oriented look. The front bumper has been lowered and given larger air intakes. The new rocker panels give the car a wide look while the new rear bumper has a more dynamic appearance. The car also gets new 20 inch 5 double spoke alloy wheels with the option of 21 inch 5 spoke alloy wheels shod with summer tyres.

Moving on to the more performance oriented RS6 and RS7. The 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 now develops 596bhp of max power and 750Nm of peak torque which is 44bhp more that earlier. The earlier power output versions of the RS6 Avant and RS7 will remain on sale while the new and more powerful versions have been badged as ‘Performance’ models. Both cars now have higher top speeds of 280 km/h, up from 250 km/h. The cars have also been fitted with a revised version of the eight-speed automatic tiptronic gearbox to deal with the added grunt.
