Bookings for the Audi RS Q8 had opened at the beginning of August for an amount of ₹15 lakh. Expect the RS Q8 to be priced at around the ₹2 crore mark.
It's good news for performance SUV aficionados! The conqueror of the 'Green Hell' is all set to be launched in India on 27th August 2020. For those not aware, the Audi RS Q8 wears the crown of Ingolstadt's fastest and most powerful production SUV, to date. With a lap time of 7min 42.253s, the RS Q8 is also the fastest production SUV around the Nürburgring. Audi India had opened its order books for the RS Q8 in the first week of August.
Essentially, the RS Q8 shares its underpinnings with the Lamborghini Urus. However, while the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in the Urus is tuned to develop 641bhp and 850Nm of torque, in the RS Q8, it's available in a slightly detuned state – churning out 591bhp & 800Nm. A single option of an eight-speed auto Steptronic transmission will be available. As a result, the RS Q8 does the 0 – 100km/h dash in just 3.8 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds slower than the Urus. In contrast, the standard Q8 develops 335bhp & 500Nm of torque from its 3.0-litre turbo mild-hybrid V6 motor.
Since the RS Q8 will reach our shores in limited numbers via the CBU route, the expected list of standard fitment on it includes bits like Adaptive Air Suspension Sport, a 48V mild-hybrid system, quattro All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), Audi Drive Select, All-Wheel Steering, and RS-spec high-performance brakes.
The RS Q8 sits on 22-inch wheels as standard (shod with 295/40 tyres), but customers in the international markets can upsize them further with 23-inch options.
Also, expect the RS Q8 to carry a premium of about ₹70 – 75 lakh over the standard Audi Q8, which is priced at ₹1.33 crore (ex-showroom).
