Audi releases new teaser of the Q8, ahead of its global debut on June 5, 2018.
What you see here is the latest teaser of Audi’s all-new Q8. And this time, the German automaker has revealed the front fascia of the vehicle, which looks quite butch and muscular.
For the uninitiated, the Q8 is set to become the flagship SUV for the brand once it’s launched. That said, it isn’t going to be your regular SUV. Instead, it’ll be funky crossover coupe. As can be seen in the teaser, the front end of the Q8 is heavily inspired from the Q8 Concept that was revealed in 2017. There’s a huge hexagonal grille at front, large LED headlights, huge air dams and prominent lines on the body. Judging by the picture, it seems quite edgy.
Although the Q8’s unique styling within the Audi group will be its main draw, it’s largely a Q7 underneath, as it’s based on the same MLB Evo platform. That being said, all SUV from VW Group – Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg – are underpinned by this architecture.
The cabin of the Q8 will take inspiration from Audi’s latest sedans – the A6 and A8. So, expect more touchscreens and less physical buttons and knobs on the centre console. The Virtual Cockpit will, of course, be there.
As for the engines, the Q8 is expected to feature the same set of 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel engines like the Q7. A high-performance SQ8 derivative is also expected to join the range later, featuring the SQ7’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel. A plug-in hybrid is also going to be offered.
More details, as well as clear pictures, of the Q8 will be revealed on June 5, 2018, as Audi will unveil the crossover coupe in Shenzen, China.
