With the 2024 Auto China show drawing near, Audi is preparing to unveil its all-new Q6L e-tron, the long-wheelbase version of the Q6 e-tron. Audi will be in Beijing to introduce the Q6L e-tron on April 24. Not just the Q6L e-tron, but the Audi SQ6 and the Q5 e-tron RS edition will also be present at the show. Although these models will be specific to the Chinese market, they will set out the roadmap for Audi's EV plans for China and other global markets. Moreover, the fact that all three are pure electric will emphasise Audi's commitment to 'meeting the growing demand for new energy vehicles in China'.
The Q6L e-tron will be Audi's first China-specific model based on the all-electric PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. Although not much is known in terms of design, the latest teaser of the Audi Q6L e-tron shows an extended wheelbase and familiar tail lights. The model will be built at the new Audi FAW NEV Company factory in Changchun, China. Expect the long-wheelbase variant to get the same 100kWh battery pack (with a WLTP range of 625km) as the standard Q6. In its standard form, the Audi Q6 draws power from twin electric motors, generating 382bhp.
Audi SQ6, Q5 e-tron RS
Apart from the Audi Q6L e-tron, the SQ6 will be another PPE platform-based model to be showcased at the show. Overseas, the SQ6 gets two electric motors, capable of making 483bhp. This number can be raised to 510bhp using launch control. Thanks to this, 0 to 97km/h comes up in a matter of around 4.2 seconds, while the top speed is set at 230km/h. The 100kWh battery pack is the same as the Q6 e-tron; however, it offers up to 580km of range (WLTP). Unveiled alongside the 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron, the SQ6 is the performance-forward version of the Q6 e-tron. Like the Q6 e-tron, the SQ6 sits on an 800-volt architecture that claims DC fast-charging speeds.
Meanwhile, the Q5 e-tron RS is expected to come with a more powerful motor than the China-spec Q5 e-tron's, as well as an 83.4kWh battery pack. The Q5 e-tron comes in two configurations – Q5 40 e-tron and Q5 50 e-tron Quattro. The former gets a single 201bhp motor, whereas the latter is equipped with a 301bhp dual-motor setup.
Audi Lineup in India
In the India lineup, Audi currently retails the following models: the Q3, Q3 Sportback, Q5, Q7, Q8 A4, A6, S5 Sportback, e-tron, e-tron Sportback, RS5, Q8 e-tron, Q8 Sportback e-tron, A8 L, e-tron GT, and RS Q8. Given the popularity of the Q5 in India, there is a possibility that you might see the new-generation SUV on Indian roads sometime in 2025.
