The fifth-generation of Audi’s entry level luxury sedan was recently revealed by its German manufacturer, and in its latest avatar it looks much better and beefier than before.

We all know what the A4 means to Audi. It is a car that helps them earn, sustain, and think of expanding its wings in different ways. Audi understands this thing clearly, and that’s why has been emphasising a lot on the A4 in recent years. The German carmaker has finally revealed the pictures of the fifth-generation A4, and if the pictures are to be trusted, the good is on its way to get better.

With improved power and efficiency, reduced weight, and more value for money, the larger-than-ever A4 seems to be in a perfect condition to take on its rivals like the BMW3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Similar to the Q3 and Q7, the A4 has stayed loyal to the original design with some additional aerodynamism and sharper lines. The new Audi A4 is 120kgs lighter than its predecessor which makes it more agile than before to throw around in corners.

The new car will be made available in two trims – the Audi A4 and A4 Avant. Both these variants will be made available with seven engine options – three TFSI petrol engines and four TDI diesel engines. The A4 Sedan studded with 2-litre TDI engine will produce 150bhp of power, where the 2-litre TFSI engine will deliver 190bhp. Also available will be two six-cylinder TDI units which will deliver power up to 272bhp. The A4 2-litre TDI ultra delivers impressive fuel efficiency of 27km/l; the corresponding Avant model delivers 26.3km/l. The 2-litre TFSI engine is more fuel efficient than ever before as it delivers 20.8km/l; the corresponding Avant model delivers a little less 20km/l.

The powertrain and the chassis of the new Audi A4 and A4 Avant have been completely redeveloped. The six-gear manual transmission, the seven-gear S tronic and the eight-stage tiptronic gearboxes have been redesigned too to provide better response and fuel efficiency. The new A4 will go on sale in the fall 2015 and ‘should’ soon after reach Indian shores too.
