As Audi's entry-level compact sedan celebrates its fifth anniversary in India, it receives a new, discounted price range to mark the occasion.
Ever since its launch here in 2014, the Audi A3 has not really been a volume-driver for the German luxury carmaker, when compared to its elder siblings like the A4 & A6. However, it does hold a special place in Audi's line-up for being the first-ever convertible offering in the country. So, instead of announcing a special edition, Audi celebrates the A3 sedan's fifth anniversary by announcing a hefty price cut on its entire range. Previously, the entry-level 35 TFSI Premium Plus variant was priced at ₹ 33.12 lakh. Now though, the base version carries a price tag of ₹ 28.99 lakh (All prices are ex-showroom). This makes the Audi A3 sedan more affordable by around ₹ 4.13 lakh. Interestingly, the A3 Cabriolet has not been included in this price cut.
While no other changes have been made to the car in terms of its exterior, interior, feature list or engine options, here's a quick recap of what the A3 sedan offers. It is offered with two engine options here: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine (35 TDI) which generates 141bhp and 320Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol motor (35 TFSI) which churns out 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. While the diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission, the petrol motor gets a 7-speed setup of the same transmission.
In terms of features, the A3 sedan offers a panoramic sunroof, Audi's 'Phone Box' with Wireless Phone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, Audi Parking System Plus with a rear camera and entry LED lights which project the Audi insignia. The S Line exterior package offers sportier front and rear bumper options, side skirts, S Line radiator grille & rear diffuser along with the exhaust tips finished in chrome, illuminated door sill plates and S Line badges on the front quarter panels.
