Aston Martin has released a sound and teaser clip of their upcoming Twin Turbo charged 5.2-litre V12 engine.
As an old traditional era comes to a close, another modern one beckons. For over a century the word 'Turbo' could never be associated with a purist brand like Aston Martin. A British marquee that had more character and charisma than a normal human being ever did with its gorgeous looks, beautiful exhaust note and immediacy of acceleration.
Last year we saw a bespoke Aston Martin for the Sam Mendez directed James bond film 'Spectre' which they called the DB10 which was limited to 10 units only. No more DB10s will be built and none were for sale to customers. It was simply for Bond.
But while all car manufacturers have been taking the plunge to meet emission regulations, names like Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren and many alike have had to down size engines and bolt in turbo chargers which some purists are still trying to fathom the fact that a Ferrari now has a Twin Turbo V8, which eventually people have started to stomach. The Porsche 911, will be available with a Turbo as standard.
Aston Martin had announced a couple of years ago that it will be dropping their existing naturally aspirated V8 and and V12 for engines made by AMG with forced induction. and now the 103 year old British sports car maker will unveil their brand new DB11 performance car in the year 2016, their first ever car with a turbo charged AMG powertrain.
Aston has just released a teaser video which shows a strategically lit 5.2-litre V12 Twin Turbo engine and it sounds terrifyingly sublime. Give it a listen in the video below to be amazed.
