Aston Martin has taken wraps off the drop-top version of the DB12. The new Aston Martin DB12 Volante keeps the Coupe's design but ditches the permanent metal roof for a distinctive fabric cover with eight layers of insulation. It has a cloth roof that is electrically powered and opens and closes in just 14 and 16 seconds, respectively, at a speed of up to 50 km/h. Additionally, a K-fold roof system is provided, which enables the roof to be folded into a compact 260mm stack. The car's remote keys can also be used to operate the roof from up to two metres afar. The all-new DB12 Volante Convertible will come standard with a black coloured roof. Aston Martin, however, will provide customization choices, such as special touches from the Q division and roof paints in red, blue, black, and silver.

Aston Martin claims that the DB12 Convertible has been engineered to deliver the same performance and handling as the DB12 Coupe. It also claims that eliminating the roof reduces the torsional rigidity required for outright dynamic capabilities, which is why the new model's chassis has received additional concentration. The front suspension mounts have been strengthened by 140%, and a crossbrace has been added across the engine compartment. These modifications have resulted in a 3.7% increase in torsional rigidity for the DB12 Volante over the DB11. The Volante weighs 111 kg more than the DB12 coupe because of the soft top and stiffer chassis, but other than that, it is identical.

The car can achieve a top speed of 325 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

With the exception of the paint job, the inside of the DB12 Volante is very identical to that of the Coupe model. The next-generation infotainment system from Aston Martin, which has been created in-house and contains all of the newest connectivity technologies, is the interior's standout. It has a brand-new 10.25-inch Pure Black touchscreen that is linked to Bowers & Wilkins audio systems, which come standard with 11 speakers or, at an additional cost, with 15.
