Qoros, the Chinese-Israeli start up, has managed to create a buzz in the automobile world by revealing a glimpse of what their flagship sedan would look like. Though it is slated for the year 2020, what makes the Qoros 9 Concept exceptional, apart from its impressive looks, is that it is designed by an intern, Jihoon Seo.
Seo, a 29-year-old Korean, undertook a five-month spell with the brand's designers in Shanghai as part of the Qoros Design Team's internship programme. Qoros then sponsored him through his final-year project that represented the culmination of his studies at Coventry University's School of Art and Design. For his final year project, Qoros briefed the intern to create a flagship concept sedan aimed at 40-50 year-old professionals residing at a modern city.
The Qoros 9 Sedan Concept’s simple yet muscular stance gives it a distinctive and a handsome look. The concept has borrowed many design themes from both the 3 Sedan and 3 Hatch especially the side profile. The trapezoidal front grille with chrome garnishing, LED Xenon head lights and fog lamps and diamond-cut eight-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels bring in dynamism to its looks. Qoros gives the conventional outside rearview mirrors a miss and have replaced it with a camera system. A high-definition rearview camera is integrated into the LED side indicator below the base of each A-pillar. Don’t be too surprised if this technology becomes a standard feature in upcoming new cars.
"Not only have I learned the skills and techniques required of a car designer, but I have also developed an initial understanding of the complex demands and dynamics of the global automotive industry. It has been an inspirational period as I look to pursue a career in car design. I'm very grateful to the Qoros design team in Shanghai for the internship opportunity and for sponsoring and mentoring me throughout my final year project," said Seo.
