The Volkswagen Virtus, which will replace the Vento, will be unveiled to the world in the early weeks of March. While it will share its mechanicals and platform with the Skoda Slavia, it will sport different styling.
The global premiere of the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus will be held on March 8. The mid-size sedan will be a replacement for the current Volkswagen Vento, so the prices of the Virtus are likely to be lower than that of the Volkswagen Taigun, which is positioned a segment above.
The Taigun starts at Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), therefore, we suspect that Volkswagen will price the Virtus close to the Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, which is in fact the same price where the Volkswagen Vento starts.
The Volkswagen Virtus is mainly a mid-size sedan, which is larger than the Vento. The Virtus is based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. The Skoda Slavia, which will debut in a few weeks, is also based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. To paint a clearer picture, the Virtus is Volkswagen counterpart to the Skoda Slavia, therefore the mechanicals, pricing, and most features are likely to be similar.
The Virtus will also get a 1.0-litre three-pot turbocharged motor, which will be offered with the more affordable models. That said, the higher variants of the Virtus will feature the 1.5-litre EVO TSI motor, which is offered with the GT variants of the Taigun. Yes, the Virtus is likely to get a GT model as well. Also, expect the larger 1.5-litre turbo-unit to be mated to a three-pedal manual setup.
The features are likely to be the same as the Taigun. The Virtus should get common convenient features, such as cooled seats, an auto headlamp, a wireless smartphone charger, and an infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
