A new battery-powered electric crossover SUV from MG Motors is in the works. The British carmaker has only released a teaser for now, but a full unveiling will most likely be held in the coming months.
MG Motors has teased an all-new electric vehicle, which is essentially developed for the UK market. While the details of the vehicle are limited, MG tells us that the new EV will be 4.3 meters in length, and its complete unveiling will be held by the end of this year, in Q4 of 2022.
It is too soon to confirm if the new MG EV will be launched in India or not, especially when the firm has its ZS EV on sale in the same segment, for it may cause an unhealthy sibling rivalry.
Speaking of MG’s upcoming EV, the teaser video gives a glimpse of its body colour, blacked-out ORVMS, 17-inch alloy-wheel design, and tail lamp styling. The EV also features plastic body cladding on the rocker panel, which makes us believe that EV is in fact a mid-size crossover SUV.
Recently, MG gave a glimpse of the upcoming ZS EV facelift, which is expected to debut with an updated powertrain and a larger battery pack, offering an improved single-charge range. The updated electric drivetrain from the ZS EV facelift could be offered with MG’s new EV.
While the new MG EV will mainly focus on the UK market, MG has confirmed that a more affordable EV will be launched in India. It seems that MG is planning to target the market share of the Tata Nexon EV, which has been the EV market leader for some time now.
