Maruti Suzuki officially revealed the sketch of the 2017 DZire. Word in the market is that the all-new sub-4-metre sedan will make its global debut in a month or so and will take on the Tata Tigor and recently launched the facelift Hyundai Xcent.
The new DZire will be based on the Baleno’s lightweight platform like the new Swift, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, making the sedan more agile and fuel efficient. It will also come with LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, new chrome garnished front grille and new bumpers. The new DZire’s side profile looks a lot more proportionate as the C-pillar smoothly merges into the boot. Thankfully it doesn’t look like a hatch with a boot attached as an afterthought. Also going by the new sketch, the DZire will get a new set of alloy wheels.
Based on the spy photos creating a buzz online, the new DZire will get a shark fin antenna as well. Coming to the interiors, the cabin will be dual tone beige-black in colour with faux wood inserts. The top variant will be equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.
The new DZire will retain its current powertrains — 83bhp, 1.2-litre petrol and 74bhp, 1.3-litre diesel. The petrol motor is mated with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic torque convertor transmission. While the diesel comes with a 5-speed manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Maruti Suzuki said in a statement, "the new DZire is designed to leave a lasting impression with its rich sculpted side body and enhanced proportions. It is modern, sleek and agile. The unmistakable sedan proportions with low and wide stance lends an elegant road presence to the new DZire.'
