The Mini Cooper SE made its first global appearance last year. Now, the all-electric hatchback is on the way to the Indian market.
In recent times, we talked about Minis when the three-door hatchback was launched in India, which was followed by our first-drive review of the Mini Cooper S and JCW, earlier this year.
Now, Mini India has teased the Cooper SE on social media, hinting that the all-electric hatchback will make its India debut very soon. The new Mini Cooper SE is expected by the end of the year. It will be the first all-electric hatchback from the BMW India group, which will mostly be sold via the CBU route. Therefore, expect a high price tag for the upcoming Mini Cooper SE. The Mini Cooper SE will be positioned in a niche segment of its own.
When launched, the Mini Cooper SE will feature a 32.6 kWh battery pack, which will offer a single-charge range of up to 200 – 230km (claimed). The power output will be rated at 184bhp and 270Nm. These power figures are similar to that of the petrol-powered Cooper S. However, the top speed of the Cooper SE will be limited to 150km/hr, whereas the Cooper S can go faster.
The overall design of the all-electric Mini Cooper SE is largely similar to IC engine powered Minis. But we can expect the Cooper SE to be available in fancy colour schemes. The interior of the SE will more or less similar to that of the standard car; however, the cabin inserts will be highlighted in some eye-catching colours.
