The Mini Cooper SE, the British carmaker’s first all-electric product, is all set to be launched in India by next week, and ahead of its debut, all the units have already been pre-booked.
Mini India has finally announced the launch date for the Cooper SE all-electric hatchback. Mini’s first EV will make its debut on February 24, 2022. The carmaker had already started accepting bookings for the SE in October 2021. The token amount was set close to Rs 1 lakh, and bookings were accepted via the brand’s online portal.
The Mini Cooper SE is likely to be priced on the expensive side, as the electric hatchback will debut via the CBU route; so expect a price tag close to, if not above, Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). The firm will bring in 30 units in the first batch, and it has been reported that all units have already been reserved. If you’re looking to buy one, you may have to wait for the second shipment to arrive, which will most probably be by the end of this year.
A 32.6kWh battery will power the electric motor, which is capable of 181bhp and 270Nm. The Cooper SE's top speed is set at 150km/h. The claimed 0 – 100km/hr time is 7.3 seconds. The Cooper SE can be charged to 80 per cent with an 11kW charger in 2.5 hours. A 50kW charger will do the same in 35 minutes.
The overall styling of the Cooper SE will be very similar to the standard petrol-powered Cooper. Buyers will get an option to choose between White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, and (a personal favourite) British Racing Green colours. The hatchback will also get unique alloys that are exclusive to the electric hatchback.
