Most likely to be launched during the festive season, Mini India has commenced the pre-bookings for the all-electric Cooper SE in India. The hatchback will be sold via the CBU route so expect it to be slightly expensive.
The Mini Cooper SE which is an all-electric two-door hatchback, is all set to be launched in India sometime next month. Ahead of its India debut, Mini has commenced accepting bookings for the Mini Cooper SE for a token of Rs 1 lakh. The pre-bookings can be made at Mini India’s portal.
The Mini Cooper SE will be sold in India as a completely-built up-unit (CBU) and the electric-hatchback will most likely be an expensive proposition at nearly Rs 55-60 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mini Cooper SE will feature a 32.6 kWh battery pack which will offer a range of 270 kms (claimed). The electric motor will provide up to 181bhp and 270Nm of torque, and all of that will help the Cooper SE do a 0-100kmph sprint in 7.3 seconds (claimed). However, the Mini Cooper SE may be launched in India with a top-speed limiter of 150kmph.
The styling of the Cooper SE will largely be the same as the I.C engine Mini hatchbacks. The firm confirms that the new Cooper SE will be offered in four colour options - White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey and British Racing Green. However. The most telling sign will be the distinctive alloy-wheel design.
The Mini Cooper SE will not have rivals in the segment and until another all-electric premium hatchback arrives, the Cooper SE will be positioned in a niche segment of its own.
