Following the E5 Sportback, the China-specific Audi aims to expand its lineup with two more all-electric models, set to launch in 2026 and 2027.
Audi, a ringless sub-brand by the German automaker for China, has revealed its first model, the all-electric E5 Sportback, set to launch in mid-2025. The four-door electric model is a product of the SAIC Motor and Audi AG partnership, and is based on their jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform. It features a capitalised ‘AUDI’ wordmark, emphasising its distinct identity from Audi’s classic four-ring emblem. Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi and SAIC Cooperation Project, said ‘The E5 Sportback is our first model based on the Advanced Digitized Platform, and it delivers on our brand promise: the best of both worlds. Audi’s DNA and engineering excellence is blended with China’s digital ecosystem and innovations, specifically tailored for our tech-savvy customers.’
With the E5 Sportback, the China-specific Audi brand showcases an evolved design philosophy, combining its sporty DNA with refined elements tailored to Chinese tastes. The rounded wheel arches and iconic Light Frame grille offer a bold yet refined appearance to the car, while the overall design highlights a perfect balance between elegance and performance. The smooth lines and a dynamic silhouette are complemented by meticulously crafted lighting, while the front and rear profiles exude minimalist sophistication, featuring a digital light loop and illuminated logos.

The interface connects to a vast ecosystem of entertainment and applications, with a facial-recognition-enabled in-app store offering seamless access. Fully integrated into China’s digital landscape, the system provides effortless smartphone connectivity and synchronisation.
