Proceeds will be used for reconstruction efforts following the earthquake in Italy
Like most hypercars, Ferrari only produced limited numbers of their latest LaFerrari. Needless to say, the Scarlet brand didn’t have break a sweat to sell all the 499 units produced. But the Italian marquee recently produced one more LaFerrari, this one for a noble cause. This 500th LaFerrari has just been sold at an auction for an insane, wait for it, $7 million (Rs 47.55crore). The proceeds of this auction will be contributed for the building back regions what were greatly affect by the earthquake a few months back.
The auction was executed by RM Sotheby and National Italian American Foundation’s Earthquake Relief Fund. The $ 7 million that this LaFerrari managed to fetch, makes it the most expensive modern car to be auctioned. A standard Ferrari LaFerrari carried a sticker price of $1.4 million.
To make this 500th LaFerrari exclusive, Ferrari has added a unique white accent on the hood and the rear windshield. This one-of-a-kind LaFerrari also gets a small Italian flag on the hood as the aide-memoire from Ferrari for its home. Aside from these changes, mechanically, this LaFerrari is no different from the other 499. This one too is fitted with a 6.2-litre V12 unit that makes 950bhp and an insane 900Nm. With the help of such firepower the LaFerrari can do the 0-100km/h run in less than 3 seconds and claims a top speed in excess of 350km/h.
