Ford India has recalled 47,300 units to fit a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. 300 units are being recalled for replacement of bolts on the split folding rear seat.
In the latest automotive recall among car makers in India, Ford India has issued a recall affecting 48,000 units of the EcoSport. 47,300 units are being recalled in order to fit a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. The recall is limited to only the diesel engined models of the EcoSport compact SUV manufactured between April 2013 and June 2014.
The remaining 300 units are being recalled for replacement of bolts on the split folding rear seat. Vehicles recalled for rear seat bolt replacement are models fitted with 60/40 split folding seats and were manufactured more recently between January and February 2016. The 40 per cent folding seat backrest may not have been fitted with bolts that meet Ford’s specifications and could potentially cause the bolts to break.
Ford has stated that no accidents, injuries or complaints have been received from anyone in relation to the components the EcoSport has been recalled for.
Customers whose cars may be affected by the recall can get in touch with their nearest Ford dealers to find out if they need to take their car in for incorporating the necessary changes. Ford India will absorb all costs in relation to fitment and replacement of parts.
This is the fourth recall until now by Ford for the EcoSport. The first recall for the EcoSport was made by the company in July 2013 for relocation of the glow plug module in 972 diesel models. The second recall was made in December 2014 affecting 20,400 units of the car in relation to front airbags and fuel line issue. The last recall came into effect in November of 2015 in regard to a faulty part in the rear suspension.
