Diesel Ford Fiestas manufactured between October 2010 and December 2011 will be recalled as Ford suspects installing a faulty part used to start the diesel engine in a car.
Continuing the recent trend globally, Ford India has decided to recall 3,072 Fiestas over faulty Glow Plug Control Module. These diesel Fiestas were made between October 14, 2010 and December 16, 2011 and the component that has gone wrong is the component that controls the starting process of the diesel motor.
This faulty part hampers the car’s ability to start in winters. The new part that will be now installed in the recalled Fiestas will be a waterproof one, and the affected customers will be contacted by various Ford dealers across the country.
Not so long ago, Ford had also replaced the same part in some of their diesel Ecosports in July 2013. The same September, the company recalled almost 1.66 lakh Figos and Classics over the same issue. The latest lot to be recalled is Ford’s latest Fiesta which was made at the Maraimalai Nagar facility near Chennai.
“The safety and comfort of our customers are always top priorities. For their peace of mind and convenience, we have initiated a Field Service Action to correct a product concern on 3,072 Ford Fiesta TDCi vehicles. This is a proactive, voluntary recall action to ensure customers’ safety and satisfaction and no accidents or injuries related to this concern have been reported,” Ford said in a statement.
This is not something new to the Indian automobile market as after Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) started voluntary vehicle recall for safety related issues in July 2012, more than 7,00,000 vehicles have been recalled in India over various faulty parts.
