To correct an airbag issue and a faulty fuel line, 20,700 Ford EcoSports are to be recalled in the Indian market.
Ford will be recalling their bestselling EcoSport soon. The issues include airbag and a faulty fuel line and will cover 20,700 vehicles across the nation.
Out of these cars, 19,441 will be the 1.5-litre diesel Titanium variant or the 1.0-litre petrol variants. These cars are expected to have issues with seat belt sensors that decide when to deploy airbags. 2,715 cars belonging to the petrol section will be examined for corroded fuel lines. 1,404 cars need to be checked for both the issues. The recalled vehicles were manufactured between January 2013 and September 2014.
"The safety of our customers is always top priority at Ford. For their peace of mind, we have initiated a field service action to correct product concerns on 20,752 Ford EcoSport vehicles in India," Ford said in a statement.
This is for the second time that the EcoSport has been recalled by Ford. Ford recalled around 1,000 diesel EcoSports after a few days the car was launched. A few weeks ago, Ford had also recalled 3,072 units of its Fiesta model to correct the waterproof glow plug control module.
